Garry Simpson ,

Founder, Snowshoe guide

SnowfunYYC was born out of a desire to share a passion for fitness, the great outdoors and a dream of making the mountains more accessible. I look forward to guiding you on your next excursion!

Maddi Hermann,

Yoga Instructor, Snowshoe Guide

Maddi started yoga a decade ago as an athlete looking to heal her body but soon found that her yoga mat had become her sanctuary for all types of healing: physical, mental & spiritual.

Since completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Alice Hong & Nora Maskey at the Inspired Yoga Institute in December 2015, she has taught 2000+ hours of yoga & fitness classes locally & internationally. She has also completed Booty Barre training, Spin training, Level 3 Antigravity Fitness & Aerial Yoga training, Wymbin Kids Yoga training, and Yoga Thrive training. She is currently completing her 300-hour yoga teacher training with Alice Hong & Nora Maskey with the Inspired Yoga Institute (June 2018).

Her travels during the first half of 2017 led her to sacred ashrams in India, the Annapurna Base Camp in the Himalaya mountains in Nepal, and to surf & yoga shalas on the beaches of Arugum Bay, Sri Lanka.

She is excited to lead you into nature & home into yourself!

Shawna Tiefenthaler

Founder, Snowshoe guide

Having been a competitive athlete for a dozen years before starting a family, then discovering dance (ballroom and latin), Shawna is passionate about movement and connection.

Growing up in Fort McMurray gave her an appreciation for the great outdoors in all seasons. She believes that there is beauty to be found in all weather, so long as you dress for it!

She loves the forest, the mountains, her hubby and 6 kids, but not Chinooks. She is looking forward to spending more time having Snowfun this winter, and you might catch her snowshoeing with her youngest on her back!

Stacy Fleming,

Yoga Instructor, Snowshoe Guide

"To harness one's truth takes a shift in perception from fear to love."

I have always had a passion for health and I believe a positive well-rounded outlook is key to maintaining balance in mind, body, and spirit.

In 2006 I graduated with a Remedial Massage Therapy Diploma. I love doing massage but I started to feel restricted in the ways I could connect with people. In 2012 I received my 200 hr teacher training certification from Yandara Yoga in Mexico. I love that I can continue to empower a wider range of people through Yoga. With the consistent results of incorporating movement, breath and meditation into our daily lives truly shows the power we have to heal ourselves.

In my own personal life having a consistent practice has made a significant difference. It not only keeps me injury free but also calm and grounded. It reminds me of my strength, and ability to overcome any challenge with grace.

Acro Yoga and Animal Flow movement have been fun additions to my practice. In January 2017 I completed my 80hr Acro Yoga Teacher Training with Vancity Acro in Vancouver. I just completed my Animal Flow Training in May 2018 in Calgary.

My other passion is getting out to the mountains. There is no better feeling than being surrounded by the majestic presence of the Rocky Mountains. I often kick off my shoes and try to truly connect to the Earth by hiking barefoot where I can.I can't wait to share my passions of yoga and hiking with you all!

To learn more about the practice or to simply see what crazy shenanigans I have been up to, you can follow me on Instagram @flyfreeyoga.
